Coming in at 2,722 feet (or 829.8 meters) is the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. Before its inauguration in 2010, it was called the Burj Dubai. The Burj Khalifa is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and has been the tallest building since 2008. The building was opened to the public in 2010 and is designed as the centerpiece of Downtown Dubai.

The name was changed from Burj Dubai to Burj Khalifa to honor Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates.

The Burj Khalifa features a Y-shaped tripartite floor geometry with the intent to optimize space for residences and hotel. There are 163 floors with 9 of them being maintenance floors. The other 154 floors include hotels, residences, lobbies, corporate suites, observatory decks, a restaurant, and broadcasting decks.

If you are thinking that you’ve heard of this building before, it’s possible that you did in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. A lot of the movie revolves around the building with some scenes being shot inside as well as on the Burj Khalifa. Tom Cruise did some cool stunts on the actual building which further questions his sanity in the minds of many viewers.
